Prefigured by a sedan concept at the crossroads last year, the future Kia EV4 is now showing under wraps. Unexpectedly, it seems that Kia is preparing another body style for its upcoming 100% electric model EV4. After being surprised in South Korea, prototypes of the Korean carmaker are now emerging from their camouflage in Europe. Initially in sedan version, and now in a body style at the crossroads of compact and crossover.
This discovery unearthed by our scoop hunters goes against the concept prefiguring the future EV4 that the South Korean manufacturer unveiled in October 2023, featuring a raised sedan silhouette. While the prototype you see here retains the same overall aesthetics as the concept (and the sedan prototype), the rear end is obviously quite different due to this new body style. We would be facing a miniaturized EV9. With this new shorter size, Kia will be able to compete notably with the Renault Mégane E-Tech electric, the Volkswagen ID.3, and especially the MG4.
The future Kia EV4 will be based on the E-GMP platform of the group and is expected to use the same motorization as the small SUV EV3, consisting of a 204 hp electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh. For reference, in theory, the EV3 could offer ranges of 410 km and 600 km respectively. Finally, similar to the EV6, Kia could also offer a high-performance GT version of the EV4. The model is expected to be unveiled at the beginning of 2025. According to our information, its price should remain below €30,000. It remains to be seen if the sedan and compact duality will apply to all markets.
