The arrival of new engines in the Kona range is accompanied by an evolution of its hybrid variant, which loses power.
Hyundai is expanding the Kona lineup by adding two purely thermal engines (a 1.0 with 100 hp and a 1.6 with 138 hp with a dual-clutch gearbox). The model was launched last year with its electric variant and its simple hybrid variant.
Upon receiving the new price list with the added engines, an evolution in the technical specification of the hybrid was discovered. This version no longer announces a combined power of 141 hp, but has decreased to 129 hp. The 1.6 petrol engine has been reduced from 105 to 93 hp, reducing performance, as the 0 to 100 km/h is now announced in 11.7 seconds, compared to 10.9 before.
Although losing some horsepower, the price has slightly increased since the model’s debut in 2023. In the base Intuitive version, the hybrid Kona now starts at €33,800, which is €400 more. This strengthens the advantage of the competition, with the restyled Renault Captur hybrid starting at €28,900.
All other versions of the Kona have logically increased by €400 as well, putting the high-end N Line Executive at €40,300.
