Dongfeng Signs Strategic Partnership with Ubtech Robotics to Innovate Manufacturing Process

Chinese automaker Dongfeng has recently entered into a strategic partnership with Ubtech Robotics, a leading company in humanoid robots. This collaboration aims to revolutionize Dongfeng’s manufacturing process by deploying advanced robots in its factories.

Dongfeng, the smallest of China’s four major state-owned automakers, has been in operation since 1960 and is now embracing the electric vehicle trend. To stay competitive and enhance its operations, Dongfeng has teamed up with Ubtech Robotics, a company specializing in advanced humanoid robots capable of various tasks like cleaning, deliveries, and fitness training.

In a bid to modernize its factories, Dongfeng has chosen the Walker S model from Ubtech Robotics. This robot is already in use at Chinese company Nio’s facilities. Dongfeng plans to utilize these humanoid robots in its Chinese factories to work alongside existing automated manufacturing equipment.

These humanoid robots, known as the Walker S, can handle complex scenarios without human intervention. They will be responsible for tasks such as seat belt inspections, door lock testing, bodywork quality checks, and label application. The deployment of Walker S robots marks a significant step forward for Dongfeng as it aims to usher in a new era of manufacturing.

The humanoid robots from Ubtech Robotics stand at 1.7 meters tall and boast an advanced algorithm that enables real-time communication with factory systems and data sharing. Their enhanced sensory capabilities allow them to perceive their surroundings and interact with objects and individuals.

Tesla has also introduced humanoid robots in its factories and retail locations. The Atlas from Boston Dynamics, Tesla’s Optimus, and Ubtech’s Walker S are among the most advanced robots currently available. These technologies have the potential to revolutionize the automotive production process, with factories potentially operating around the clock.
