Available from 53,550 euros, all with relatively complete standard equipment, the new 2023 BMW i4 eDrive35 is aimed at the Tesla Model 3 in terms of price, but unfortunately, its range and power are down.
As the number one competitor to the Tesla Model 3, the BMW i4 is currently keeping a low profile compared to the American sedan. But things could be a bit more balanced in the coming months, especially in France, since the BMW i4 is finally facing the Tesla Model 3 financially speaking. At least for the entry-level version, since the 2023 BMW i4 eDrive35 starts at 53,550 euros, or 60 euros more than a basic Model 3.
2023 BMW i4 eDrive35, POWER AND RANGE DOWN
After the American car’s price surge, it’s now the German car’s turn to drop its price. BMW has just launched the new 2023 BMW i4 in its eDrive35 version on the French market. Technically, it is based on the eDrive40 performance but with a slightly smaller engine. The power goes from 340 to 286 hp, the engine is still placed at the rear axle, which makes it a rear-wheel drive, and the performance is still respectable, with a 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds.
On the other hand, there is a bit more change concerning the battery. Its net capacity drops from 80.7 to 68.0 kWh, resulting in a drop in range. The 40 version could do 590 km on a single charge under the WLTP cycle, against 483 km for this 35 variant. Regarding recharging, BMW announces up to 11 kW in AC and 180 kW in DC.
The standard equipment is complete, including LED headlights, two curved screens, a rearview camera, 17-inch wheels, and the heat pump.

NOT JUST AMERICAN COMPETITION
On the other hand, as mentioned above, the Tesla Model 3 has undergone considerable increases in recent months, as has the price of recharging at the Supercharger. The characteristics between the two models are pretty similar, with a 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, 491 km of autonomy, and a fast charge of 170 kW.
The Kia EV6 can also be an exciting alternative to the BMW i4 and the Tesla Model 3. For 51,990 euros, you can opt for an EV6 rear-wheel drive with 229 hp, a 77.4 kWh battery, and a range of 528 km.
