Finally, Tesla did not increase the prices of its sedan. The update on the configurator is limited to the arrival of the Quicksilver color.
The threat has not (yet) been carried out. A few weeks ago, Tesla had warned of a likely price increase for its small sedan in July. The message on their site read: “The price of the Model 3 is expected to increase as of July 1, 2024, due to potential increases in import taxes.”
On the fourth day of July, the Model 3 configurator was updated. However, the prices remained the same. The Rear-Wheel Drive model is still priced at €39,990. The uncertainty remains regarding the issue of customs duties, which were supposed to be increased on electric models produced in China starting July 4 if last-minute negotiations between Europe and China did not succeed. As of now, no definitive announcement has been made.
There had already been speculation as to whether Tesla intended to raise its prices or if it was a tactic to encourage customers to place orders before the end of June, as the brand always aims to clear its inventory at the end of the quarter…
In conclusion, the configurator update introduces a new color option for the Model 3, named Quicksilver, which was first seen on the Model Y in late 2022. According to Tesla, it is “a dynamic gray with a liquid metal appearance.” This color is available as an option for €2,000. Deliveries with this color will begin later this quarter.
