Following a recent update, the Lucid Air now stands at the top of the hierarchy with a record efficiency.
Thanks to its advanced technologies, the Lucid Air was already among the most efficient electric cars, and therefore among those with the longest range depending on the version. But with a recent update, the American sedan pushes its low consumption even further.
Unsurprisingly, the entry-level Pure version is the most efficient. According to the EPA standard, the 430 hp sedan boasts a range of 420 miles (675 km) thanks to its 84 kWh battery capacity. This results in an EPA consumption of 12.4 kWh/100 km.
It becomes the most fuel-efficient car in the American market, ahead of the new Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD (12.8 kWh/100 km). It also surpasses the Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE (13.3 kWh/100 km). However, while considered by its designers as the most efficient electric car in the world, it would struggle to compete with local city cars, such as the Dacia Spring or Renault Twingo e-Tech.
Like the rest of the range, the Lucid Air Pure comes standard with a heat pump, the DreamDrive semi-autonomous driving system, and the Surreal Sound Pro audio system. It also receives a new electronic system, allowing to triple the computing power and double the memory compared to the previous setup. This significantly improves the car’s infotainment system, which has been regularly criticized in previous versions.
It goes all out without increasing its price to attract more customers and likely help the brand achieve its sales targets for the year. Already launched in the United States, the Lucid Air is gradually arriving in Europe. Available in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, or Norway, it is taking longer to reach other countries, particularly in France.
