Alfa Romeo has revealed the specifications of the Veloce version of its electric SUV, Junior. This sporty version introduces a brand new engine from Stellantis.
The Alfa Romeo Junior is trying to make its presentation forgettable. Indeed, the electric SUV from the Italian firm was born a few weeks ago under the name Milano.
A name representing Italy, which was approved by the Italian public. But the country’s political figures were strongly against this name. Learning that the model is manufactured in Poland, they pressured for a name change.
So Milano became Junior, which will inherit a brand new motorization. In fact, the Veloce version of the SUV will be equipped with a 280-horsepower electric motor. More than initially planned. At the presentation, and even when orders opened a few weeks later, Alfa had announced 240 hp.
280 hp is equivalent to 207 kW, allowing the SUV to have a torque of 345 Nm. The development of the Veloce is coming to an end, and other novelties are being added to this sporty version.
The steering has a different calibration to be more precise. Alfa has lowered the suspension by 25 mm and reinforced the front and rear anti-roll bars. The braking system has been upgraded, with 380 mm discs at the front. Finally, a Torsen differential allows for better acceleration.
