First appearance in France at the Vivatech 2024 event in Paris

First crowd bath at the Vivatech exhibition for the unique electric pick-up Tesla Cybertruck that is starting a European tour called Cyber Odyssey.

In 2019, Tesla unveiled its unique Cybertruck, the electric pick-up has been on sale in North America since last fall. The imposing vehicle, 5.69 meters long and 2.40 meters wide, makes its first appearance in France at the VivaTech exhibition held from May 22 to 25 at the Parc des Expositions in Porte de Versailles, Paris.

This behemoth, whose weight ranges from 2 to 3 tons depending on whether it contains two or three electric machines (aptly named Cyberbeast), is not currently intended to roam the streets of the old continent where it may not be comfortable despite its 4-wheel steering.

It will be more at home in the plains of Texas where Tesla has established its headquarters in the city of Austin. In this potentially hostile state, the Cybertruck’s armor may not be superfluous. The brand indicates resistance to .45 caliber bullets, 9mm bullets, and 12mm shotguns.

Cybertruck: Is it really a Tesla?

In the cockpit, the Tesla spirit is well represented with a central touch screen that takes center stage. The screen diagonal measures 18.5 inches, better than on board the Tesla Model 3 and Y with a 15-inch screen, and the Model S and X equipped with a 17-inch display. There are no gauges behind the wheel, as it operates a “by wire” steering system without any mechanical connection to the wheels. With a double cabin architecture and a pair of doors dedicated to rear seat access, the Tesla Cybertruck features a 9.4-inch touch screen for passengers.

Note that there is no Tesla logo on the body or inside the vehicle. The technical specifications next to the vehicle indicate a range of 547 km and even 755 km for the range extender version, which features an additional 50 kW battery pack. The 0-100 km/h is done in less than 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.

Between light gray and dark gray

This utility vehicle of a new kind has a cargo bed with a capacity of 3,423 liters. Its body, made of cold-rolled stainless steel, resembles the iconic DeLorean from the Back to the Future saga. In addition to this gray finish, the Cybertruck offers a choice with a satin black variant. The battery is capable of charging enough to travel 206 km in just 15 minutes.

The manufacturer specifies that the vehicle is guaranteed for 4 or 80,000 km at the earlier of the two terms, and the battery and electric machines are guaranteed for 8 years or 240,000 km. The Tesla Cybertruck has just begun a European tour called Cyber Odyssey with the following dates in France and Monaco not to be missed.
