Lidl: A promotion on electric vehicle charging with the Lidl Plus app

Lidl simplifies charging with stations located in the parking lots of its supermarkets by launching the “e-mobility” feature on its smartphone app.

While Lidl may skip fuel stations, the brand has quickly invested in electric vehicle charging stations. Most of the parking lots of its supermarkets are equipped with charging points, and some even have dedicated stations with powerful charging stations. In total, Lidl offers over 4000 charging points in France.

The retailer takes a step further in the charging field by launching the e-mobility feature in its Lidl Plus mobile app. Once you are identified, this feature allows you to pay for your recharge. You need to input your payment method, but once that is done, there is no need to do it again as payment becomes quick with Lidl Pay. The brand highlights that its app does not involve any additional costs apart from the recharge itself, and there is no need for a badge or subscription.

The app also helps you find an available charging point, with real-time information and search filters for the desired type of charging point. If you are shopping at the same time, you can monitor the charging remotely and even stop it if needed.

One can also take advantage of another benefit of the app: receiving a discount coupon (as the app serves as a loyalty card in the stores). Some customers have received a 20% discount on charging through the app (valid until July 14, with a limit of five uses, but it is not automatically offered to everyone).
