Geely, having been delayed, is catching up in the electric vehicle market. The Lynk&Co Z10 is its third sedan introduced in just six months.
Is the growth of electric vehicle sales favoring the return of sedans? While waiting for the necessary customer acceptance, this trend is apparent in the offerings of Chinese manufacturers. Large electric sedans are multiplying in their showrooms, with Lynk&Co joining the party with the Z10. This model will compete with its cousins Zeekr 007 and Geely Galaxy E8, as well as other competitors like Luxeed S7, Xiaomi SU7, Dongfeng eπ007, Arcfox αS5, Rising F7, Jiyue Robo 07.
Compared to all these rivals, Lynk&co’s first electric model stands out with the identity the brand has managed to develop. The Z10 is a grand sedan measuring 5028 mm long with a wheelbase of 3005 mm (1966 mm wide and 1468 mm high). Announced by the concept The Next Day, it features sleek lines and a distinctive lighting signature. Despite this, it maintains good aerodynamic performance with a drag coefficient of 0.198, thanks to controlled flaps at the front and a mobile spoiler at the rear.
The Z10 also features a Lidar on the roof, indicating an advanced level L2+ driver assistance system known as NOA (Navigation on AutoPilot) that operates in urban conditions without high-definition mapping, powered by an Nvidia Orin-X processor.
Less Original Interior
Inside, the Z10 ticks nearly all the boxes of a typical Chinese sedan: large central screen (15.4 inches), small Lotus-style gauge and wide heads-up display, ventilated, heated, and massaging seats front and rear, two-spoke steering wheel, minimalist center console, two cameras, dynamic lighting, fragrance diffuser…
Following Geely’s acquisition of Meizu, the phone producer has developed the operating system (on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor) and audio system.
Built on Geely’s SEA platform, the Z10 features 800-volt batteries (likely Geely’s Golden Battery) allowing for a claimed 573 km of range to be charged in 15 minutes (Chinese manufacturers are no longer disclosing the charging power itself). The battery capacities are not provided, but the Z10 with the longest range is estimated at 800 km CLTC, roughly 650 km in WLTP. In terms of performance, the dual SiC motor version boasts 580 kW (270 + 310). Two propulsion versions of 200 and 310 kW are mentioned, starting at 2098 kg.
The price of this new sedan is expected to range between 200,000 and 250,000 RMB (25,000 to 32,000 €). It remains to be seen if it will arrive in Europe, where the brand plans to launch a new electric model this year. Interestingly, the Z10 was officially presented at an event held in… Gothenburg (Sweden). Even after parting ways with Polestar, Volvo is still involved in the Lynk&Co project.
