The transition to electrification signifies continuity at Audi. Just like the other SUVs in the brand, the new Q6 will soon be joined by a Sportback version.
It has become a habit. Apart from the Q2 and Q7, all Audi SUVs come in either a classic version or a “coupe” version called Sportback. For the electric e-tron models, this is the case for the Q4 and Q8, and soon for the intermediate model, the Q6. This new variant will be available at dealerships beginning of 2025, and there are no expected technical changes.
Therefore, we will see the recent Q6 Performance version in rear-wheel drive (240 kW), followed by the Q6 Quattro (285 kW) and SQ6 (360 kW). Thanks to the more inclined rear hatch that benefits aerodynamics, the official ranges are expected to be slightly improved. The 94 kWh battery (at 800 volts) should allow for a range of over 650 km for the most efficient version.
In terms of style, there are no surprises, with a similar approach to the Q4 / Q4 Sportback duo and a limited change to the rear upper part, starting from the central pillar. This will result in a slight reduction in headroom for rear passengers and a possibly slightly reduced trunk volume.
The Q6 had already shown Audi’s commitment, as the most innovative German premium brand at one point, to approach electric mobility without shocking the habits of its customers, risking displaying a certain inertia… The Sportback will not change this mindset.
