A prototype, still well disguised, of Alpine’s first SUV has just been spotted. The model will have the same base as the electric Scénic.

While it has just opened reservations for the A290, its high-performance city car based on the Renault 5, Alpine is advancing on the development of its first SUV, which will be 100% electric.

The project has been known for several years, with the manufacturer officially announcing the choice of the Dieppe factory for assembly in January 2022! Since then, there hasn’t been much to feast on. Until today.

A prototype of the SUV has been spotted on the open road. The photos were taken by a car enthusiast who had the chance to come across the vehicle and had the good idea to take some pictures, shared on her X account.

The vehicle is still well disguised, but we can see its general appearance, which is that of a coupe SUV. This time, it is not simply a modified Renault like with the A290, but a specific model.

The front end seems pointed, reminiscent of the design of the Alpenglow concept. We will surely find the four headlights, typical of Alpine, but in a reinterpreted version around a central edge. At the rear, there is an inspiration from the A110, with a rear window that slopes down on the sides.

This SUV, which could be named A390, will join the category of compact vehicles, with a length of around 4.50 meters. Its technical base is the AmpR Medium platform, the same as the electric Scénic.

While it will feature the same large 87 kWh battery, the Alpine model will have significantly increased power. It is expected to offer a four-wheel drive configuration, with the addition of a rear motor.

The vehicle will be in dealerships in 2025.
