Stellantis announces the gradual deployment of its route planning software e-Routes on all its electric models, across all brands.
When driving an electric car, we understand the importance of a route planner. This tool is essential, especially during long trips where the car can calculate and display charging stations along the route to ensure reaching the destination without the stress of running out of battery. It is surprising that not all electric vehicles come equipped with this feature.
However, not all electric cars have built-in navigation systems. Therefore, there are route planners available on smartphones, but they may lack precision in calculations and forecasts without being linked to the vehicle. That’s why Stellantis has announced the extension of its mobile route planning app e-Routes to all its brands starting this summer.
Stellantis initially did not integrate a route planner into its electric vehicles like other manufacturers. This catch-up strategy is aimed at all its customers, regardless of their vehicle. While e-Routes has been available on Citroën vehicles since October 2023, it has since been introduced to Peugeot, DS, Opel, and Vauxhall. Now, the software will also be offered on Fiat models like the 600e and Fiat Professional (E-Scudo and E-Doblò). Alfa Romeo and Lancia will also have it for the new Junior Elettrica and Ypsilon Electric models.
The e-Routes software calculates the most appropriate route considering the location of charging stations. Additionally, the driver can see the number and characteristics of the charging points at each station, such as charging speed and availability. It connects to the vehicle’s real-time data to display the battery charge status upon arrival. e-Routes can be displayed directly on the smartphone or projected onto the infotainment screen via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connections. The e-Routes app can be downloaded for free on mobile or during the car purchase through the Connect Plus package. After a trial period, a subscription of €4/month (or €40/year) is required.
By offering this convenient solution to its customers, Stellantis aims to enhance the driving experience of electric vehicle owners and ensure a seamless journey with optimal route planning.
